Real Scottish People's League Week 26
Week 26 started with a midweek encounter between bottom-of-the-RSPL Dunfermline and Kilmarnock, and the two teams' Achilles heels came to the fore as they drew the match 1-1. The Pars have still not won a game at East End Park this season and both teams have really drawn too many games for their supporters' liking.
It didn't get much better for Killie by the time Saturday came around - identical, in fact, as they shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw, this time with title challengers Hearts. The result does neither team any good in their RSPL aims; Killie failing to close in on a European slot while Hearts failed to make ground on leaders Motherwell.
Well, meanwhile, were held to a 0-0 draw by St Mirren, meaning they retain their 10-point lead at the top of the Real SPL. Meanwhile Aberdeen and Hibs played out another scoreless game which moves the Dons down one place but keeps Hibs joint-bottom, only ahead of Dunfermline on goal difference. The pair are increasingly marooned at the bottom of the division, and the only question is which of them will earn the chance to stay in the RSPL via the play-off system, and who will drop down automatically?
Back at the top, Dundee Utd moved closer to second place after smashing Tayside rivals St johnstone 5-1 in Perth. The result moves Utd up one place in the league but with a single win covering the teams sitting from second to fifth in the RSPL, there is certain to be an exciting run-in in terms of European places - and, of course, challenging Motherwell's grip on top spot.
