Real Scottish People's League Week 28
There are three teams who will have come out of week 28 of the Real SPL with smiles on their faces, and those are: new second-placed club Dundee Utd; Hibernian, who climbed off the bottom; and of course Motherwell whose victory continued their march to the inaugral RSPL title.
Two excellent wins for United, scoring six goals and conceding none on the process, sees them join fellow Taysiders St Johnstone as Motherwell's only serious challengers for the championship. Indeed, Well's lead has been cut to 11 points from last week's 13 thanks to the Terrors' charge.
The Perth Saints' 3-1 win over Dunfermline condemned the Fifers to bottom spot thanks to Hibs' victory over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park. The Ayrshire club is on a terrible run of form compounded by two defeats this week which saw them concede seven goals.
The only game with shared spoils was between - surprise surprise - draw-specialists St Mirren and Aberdeen, a result which surely condemns the Paisley Saints to mid-table obscurity for the remainder of the campain, and somewhat dents Aberdeen's chance of European football next season.
An average of almost four goals per game was scored in the RSPL this week - surely testament to this new league's entertainment value.
