History of the Deveronvale vs Elgin City fixture.

THIS exciting fixture is the first meeting of the teams since Elgin's last season in the Highland League seven years ago. City resigned from the league in 2000 to join the newly-expanded Scottish Football League with fellow 'Highlanders' Peterhead and rags-to-riches villagers Gretna.

The former Highland League foes were drawn second-last out of the hat in the Scottish Cup Third Round draw to set up a tantalising encounter at the Banff side's ground Princess Royal Park.

DEVERONVALE clinched a Scottish Cup third-round clash with Elgin after a hard-fought win over Fraserburgh.

The hosts' Steve Dolan scored an own goal after eight minutes but Mark Smith's header in the 21st minute restored parity.

The game was an even contest but it was Vale who got the crucial goal in the 74th minute.

A good move down the right saw Paul Urquhart cross and Smith was on hand to nod home the winner.

ELGIN CITY repelled a late fight-back from Buckie to book a third-round Scottish Cup clash with Deveronvale.

Adam Moffatt got the only goal of the game in the 38th minute when his 25-yard free-kick found the net.

Buckie's Donnie Munro came close to an equaliser just after the break with a left-foot shot that flew inches wide.

Substitute Mark Hamilton hit the post in injury-time as Buckie tried without success to take the tie to a replay.

Recent respective form guides

Deveronvale are showing reasonable home form, having won four and lost two from the last six played.
