Ryan Fraser is out of contract in the summer and free to talk to other clubs next month, so Aberdeen have offered the teenager a lucrative new deal to tempt him to stay at Pittodrie.
And Reds gaffer Craig Brown has pointed to Chris Maguire, Fraser Fyvie, and Jack Grimmer's stunted careers following their poorly-judged moves south of the border.
Brown said: “We’re confident Ryan will choose to stay but it’s now up to him.”
