Langfield let a Kris Commons trundler slip under his gloves with 10 minutes to go in a game where Aberdeen FC were comfortably heading for a draw.

Manager Craig Brown refused to blame his surprise choice for the number one jersey this season, but supporters up and down the country were quick to point the finger at the hapless glovesman.

After taking some severe criticism on Twitter, 'Clangers' responded using his own account on the social media website.

He said: "I fucked up, deserve every bit of criticism and abuse everyone is giving me I apologise #SORRY".

He later added: "Took alot of stick today some deserved, some a bit over the top but hey i'll take it on the chin and bounce back#COYR".

Team morale is under scrutiny too after rival for the number one jersey Jason Brown retweeted a comment that was critical of Langfield.

Regular tweeter Brown, who most Dons fans thought would be first-choice keeper this term, later apologised for the retweet saying it was a mistake.

One supporter's Twitter comments have landed in him in hot water with Grampion plod, when they stupidly left an abusive message on Twitter targeting Langfield's recent brain seizure.

The force said they were making inquiries into a complaint about Twitter comments, and is following a "positive line of inquiry".
