The defender quit Ross County to join the Dons in the summer and has made 18 appearances for Derek McInnes' men, notably scoring the winning goal as Aberdeen beat Celtic 2-1 at Pittodrie.

However the former Motherwell and Cardiff player has found first-team opportunities limited in recent months following Mark Reynolds' return from injury.

Any deal will not be completed before this weekend's Scottish Premiership clash with the two teams facing each other in Dingwall on Sunday.

The 30-year-old's current deal at Pittodrie expires in the summer of 2017.

Quinn played a key part in County's escape from relegation last term, making 30 appearances and scoring three goals.
