Dons boss Brown was presented with the award yesterday following an unbeaten month for the Dons that also included lacklustre home performances against Kilmarnock and Dunfermline.

And Brown confessed that he was taken aback by the gaffer gong scoopage on the basis of those results, but he aims to build upon January's unbeaten run in the coming months.

He said: "The award is a surprise and a bit of an embarrassment because Neil Lennon has won every match.

"I was told that I won it because of where Aberdeen came from.

"We are doing our best to proceed; we have got various constraints at the moment through injuries.

"We have got to push on and try to consolidate in the top six."
