Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood has held talks with Motherwell defender Steven Hammell over a move to Pittodrie.

Hammell says he is interested in the switch, but wants to take the weekend to weigh up his options.

"My agent has also spoken to some other teams, plus I have a few options in England as well.

"My contract with Motherwell is up at the end of the month, so I'm free to speak to other clubs."

The 24-year-old Scotland international added that there is a possibility he could remain at Fir Park under rookie manager Mo Backpass.

He said: "There is still a new deal on offer from Motherwell and I haven't ruled out signing on with them again."

"The next contract I sign will probably be the biggest of my career, so I've got to make sure it's right for me."

The Dons have also made an approach for Livingston defender David McNamee.

The Scotland cap, who played in Scotland's 5-1 demolition of Bulgaria in the Kirin Cup, has delayed going on holiday until he gets his future sorted out with Coventry City and Hibs also poised to make a move.

McNamee said: "I have played my last game for Livingston and want to continue at the highest level in Scotland."
