Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood is hoping to sign defender Ferne Snoyl on a permanent contract at the end of the season.

Snoyl, who is on loan from Feyenoord, has impressed in his first two appearances for the Dons helping them to victories over Rangers and Hearts.

Calderwood said: "He will still be under contract to the Dutch club at the end of the season and some fee will be involved."

"The lad is a bit out of favour there, so we will have to see what can be sorted out. But he wants to stay as he loves it here and seems to have become a fans' favourite very quickly."

Jimmy also revealed to bbc.co.uk that he rejected a bid from Southampton for Scott Severin at the end of the January transfer window.

"We had to knock back an offer from Southampton for Severin because we are trying to build a team, not break one up," he said.

"Every player has his price, but Seve will be a big part of the Aberdeen side for the next few years."

Former Hearts midfielder Severin extended his contract with Aberdeen until 2009 in December.

"Seve had already signed for us, so it was never going to happen," said Calderwood. "It does send a message to supporters that we will do what we can to hold on to our top men."
