ABERDEEN are hoping that captain Russell Anderson and playmaker Jamie Smith will be back to face the SPL's bottom club Dundee United on Saturday.

The skipper missed last weekend's pathetic performance at Rugby Park while Smith has been recovering from a hip operation while the Dons slumped to four defeats in five games.

Ex-United striker Lee Miller is hoping to recover from a bad knock received on Saturday during his and the rest of the team's inept display.

Under-fire Dons manager Jimmy Calderwood said: "It was a dreadful result on Saturday resulting from a terrible performance.

"We are making life difficult for ourselves at the moment but we now need to focus on this Saturday's game and get a win.

"Miller trained today with the boys. He has bad bruising on his knee but fingers crossed he will be alright for the Dundee Utd game.

"Russell also trained today and we will keep an eye on him over the next few days to see how his hip reacts. All being well he should be back for Saturday.

"Jamie Smith will train tomorrow, so we will see how he gets on."
