ABERDEEN midfielder Scott Severin is on the road to recovery after successful knee surgery.

The influential midfielder will fly out to the Dons youth squad's training camp in Portugal to meet up with physio John Sharp.

Calderwood is confident Severin will be fit for the Dons first home league game against Inverness Caley Thistle on August 5th.

Meanwhile, Dons captain Russell Anderson reckons the club will be challenging for honours this season.

Anderson and his team-mates begin their South Africa trip with a game against Blomfontein Celtic at 9pm tonight and the skipper believes the that the Dons can end their eleven year trophy drought in the third season of the Calderwood revolution.

He told The Herald: "I am really excited about the season ahead and, if we keep everybody fit, I see no reason why we shouldn't be challenging for silverware."
