Holden Out For A Hero
Article by Stand Free Ed Tuesday, 24th November 2009
Dons believed to be sniffing around Aberdeen-born USA saccer internationalist. Yeehaa!

DONS scouts are thought to be keeping tabs on Aberdeen-born United States international midfielder Stuart Holden.

Holden left Scotland at the age of 10 when his father took a job in Houston, and currently plays for MLS team Dynamo.

The classy midfielder, 24, has been capped by the US national side 10 times and could be interested in a move back to his home-town club.

Aberdeen midfielders Mark Kerr and Gary McDonald are both out of contract at the end of the season, and Dons boss Mark McGhee could be looking at Holden as an ideal replacement for either.

It is also thought that Saturday's opponents Rangers are interested in Holden, potentially creating a familiar Joseph Lapira scenario.

AFC is keeping its cards close to its chest, saying that McGhee has a "very long list" of players he is keeping tabs on.

It is thought that Plymouth striker Steven MacLean and Motherwell winger Jim O'Brien are also McGhee targets.
