Miller Moves To Boro

ABERDEEN striker Lee Miller has moved to Gordon Strachan's Middlesbrough for a fee thought to be in the region of half-a-million pounds.

And Dons boss Mark McGhee has moved to replace him immediately with Plymouth's Steven MacLean - for more information on that deal click here.

Miller was signed for free from Dundee United by former manager Jimmy Calderwood in 2006, and made 145 appearances for the Dons scoring 33 goals.

But the forward's real ability was with his back to goal in the modern 'non-scoring forward' role, as superb performances particularly against Rangers and in Europe against FC Copenhagen and Bayern Munich testify.

However the lack of a supporting poacher to score regularly has plainly frustrated Miller during games, and led a section of the Dons support to dismiss Miller's contribution due to his lack of goals.

However, it is obvious that Miller's talents are recognised by those actually involved in football, as the continual interest in him from Championship and SPL clubs, particularly during the last two transfer windows, proves beyond doubt.

With the target man able to leave on a free in the summer, debt-ridden Aberdeen accepted the £500,000 offer on Sunday afternoon despite the sum being far below Miller's market value.

Representatives from Middlesbrough were in attendance at Tynecastle last week as the Dons hammered Hearts 3-0, and followed up their interest from last summer where they were rumoured to have been weighing up a near-£1m move for Miller.

All at Aberdeen-Mad (apart from the Stooge!) thank Lee for his contribution to AFC's recent recovery, and wish him all the best in the future.
