Aberdeen Fans Day Out - With A Twist

Last updated : 25 April 2013 By Stand Free Ed

The recent campaign to create a vibrant and colourful 'singing section' at Pittodrie was revoked by the club, and they have since announced the closure of the RDU for next season.

The club have offered no alternative to the Merkland plan and so-called fans groups have sat on their hands, so it's time for the supporters to take charge - and the club's rejection of the Merkland idea and closing of the RDU has cleared things up, as the only stand left is the South.

But first, we need to prove that there is strength in numbers - that there is enough people interested in a noisy, old-school section at Pittodrie to make it viable.

Therefore we would like to invite fans who backed the Mad for the Merkland campaign - and anyone who would like to be part of a good old-fashioned fun day out at the fitba - to AFC Ladies vs Spartans at Heathryfold Park at 2pm on Sunday May 19th.

There's a bar at the ground and it would be a good chance for fans to discuss next season in the South Stand.

There will be plenty of flags and banners on show and a chance to try out some new songs and get behind the AFC Ladies team. They are self funded so every little helps and it helps us meet with like-minded fans as well.

Treat it like an away day, an end of season day out - and the prices are fantastic: Adults £4, Concessions £2

If you would like to ask any other questions, email madforthemerkie@hotmail.com, and you can help by spreading the word to as many like-minded fans as possible - we can only make a difference if everyone does their bit.
