Fans Tourney Needs New Home

ABERDEEN fans group Red Army 12 have perhaps been given a taster of what to expect as they try to forge a better relationship between the supporters and AFC.

A mere two weeks before the new group's fundraising 6-a-side tournament was meant to take place, AFC has withdrawn the use of the Pittodrie car park.

After originally informing the group that the car park would be available, as it has been for previous Red Ultras tourneys, the club has now told group members that the area cannot be used for insurance reasons.

Red Army 12 was formed this year to unite the Dons fans and supporters clubs in order to have one voice when communicating with Aberdeen FC and try to create a better atmosphere and colour in the stadium on matchdays.

And the group and all the teams who have signed up for the 6-a-side tourney now have only a few days to sort out alternative arrangements.

A spokesman for Red Army 12 said: “Not only is it extremely disappointing, but the short notice has made it very difficult for us.

"I hope AFC will now help us to find alternative pitches, in the spirit of our attempts to have a good relationship between the club and fans."

If anyone has any ideas where the competition can be held or can help in any way, please respond to this message on the Stand Free forum, or email redarmy12@hotmail.co.uk
