Anderson Injury Scare

ABERDEEN captain Russell Anderson has given the Dons an injury scare in the build-up to Saturday's game with in-form Dundee United.

The inspirational defender had to be substituted after 75 minutes of the Dons' excellent 3-1 victory over Kilmarnock yesterday.

Anderson, the subject of much transfer speculation in recent weeks, limped off the field clutching his knee.

Assistant boss Jimmy Nicholl told the Press & Journal: "Russell Anderson was late with a challenge and he took a bad knock on his knee, which tightened up.

"We will see how he is on Thursday but, hopefully, it will not be too serious and he will be able to play against Dundee United on Saturday."

Meanwhile, Jamie Smith has had a scan on his injured groin and may be out for another six weeks.

The Pittodrie medical staff are currently assessing whether the unlucky winger should undergo a second operation this season to nail the problem.
