YOUNG Dons defender Andy Considine has pledged his long term future to the Pittodrie club.

The centre-half has put biro to pulp on a new four-year contract that will see him remain with the Dons until the summer of 2012.

The 21-year-old Scotland Under-21 cap has become a regular in the Dons top team since Russell Anderson's departure last summer.

A delighted Conso said: "There was never any doubt that I would be staying at Pittodrie.

"I love playing for the club, so I'm delighted I will be here for at least another four years."

Considine had many highs and lows last season - and that was just in the Scottish Cup semi - and signs the new contract on the back of some assured performances at the start of the new season.

Dons legend and Director of Football Willie Miller moved swiftly to try and secure a new deal with Considine last month.

Miller has come under severe criticism from some fans regarding the timing of contract renewal talks last term, resulting in several key players leaving the club.

Considine, who made his debut in 2003-4, has made 87 appearances for the first team and scored six goals including a memorable double two seasons ago against tomorrow's opponents St. Mirren at Love Street.

Andy and team-mate Charlie Mulgrew will join the Scotland Under-21 squad for next week's European Championship qualifying matches against Slovenia and Denmark.
