A sign of the changes this summer's new regime at Pittodrie have insigated is a togetherness and willingness to stick it out at the club. This has been exemplified by Markus Heikkinen's decision to stay until the end of the season despite not having settled in Aberdeen; Darren Mackie's choice to fight for his place rather than drop down a division; and now Zander Diamond putting pen to paper today to extend his contract to 2008.

Diamond told RedWeb, "I've never made any secret of the fact I wanted to stay here. I'm still very much at the learning stage of my career and, as far as I'm concerned, there's no better place to develop than where I am now. I love the area and I consider the North east my home now. My next target is to get fully fit and win my place back in the team and, fingers crossed, I should be ready within the next week or so."

Jimmy Calderwood added, "Zander is a precious talent with the potential to go all the way in the game and he is learning all the time. He has a tremendous attitude and is a sensible lad who realises that, at this stage in his career, Aberdeen is the correct place for him."
