ABERDEEN defender Jerel Ifil has made his Pittodrie stay a family affair - by recommending his sister to the club.

Ifil's sibling Apr, named after the standard method for calculating interest fees where finance charges are expressed as an annual rate, is a goalkeeper and is currently without a club.

Aberdeen's ladies team took her on trial, but so impressed were Dons men's first team goalkeeping coaches Colin Meldrum and Michael Watt that they snatched the talented totty and gave her a substitute's appearance in the Dons' closed-doors friendly with Treadstone on Wednesday night.

Meldrum said: "We gave her the second half, and while she flapped about on crosses and continually sliced the ball out of the park, she was far better than anything we've had twixt-sticks since Theo Snelders.

"I've therefore had no hesitation in offering her a full-time contract this morning and we'll be sticking her straight into the first team squad for Sunday's head-to-head with Kilmarnock.

"There is no doubt in my mind that today is Apr Ifil's day. "

The club has announced that Jamie Langfield's contract has been terminated and he is transfer-listed with immediate effect.
