ABERDEEN'S top scorer this season Stevie Crawford is on the brink of a sensational return to former club Dunfermline Athletic, according to reports.

The Pars, who travel north to face the Dons in the SPL tomorrow, will see their captain Greg Shields move to Pittodrie if the deal goes through.

Reports suggest that Crawford wants to return to Fife for family reasons and Aberdeen's under-fire boss Jimmy Calderwood is happy to let him go.

Dunfermline, who will also sign former Don Jim Hamilton from Motherwell today, have been searching for answers to their goalscoring problems in recent weeks.

30-year-old defender Shields has played for Rangers, Dunfermline, Charlton and Kilmarnock.
