Jamie Smith To Sign Contract Extension

ABERDEEN winger Jamie Smith will sign a new contract this afternoon that will keep him at Pittodrie until 2009.

Jimmy Calderwood revealed last week that it was 50:50 whether the former Celtic and Den Haag forward would re-sign for the Dons.

But last season's second-top goalscorer has never hidden his affection for Aberdeen and that he and his family would find it a wrench to leave the North-East.

Smith is now back to full fitness after a niggling groin injury that has kept him out of the first team for much of the last three months.

The news is a real boost for the club as they go into tomorrow's game with Falkirk looking for a win to take the Dons back into second place in the SPL.

A delighted Smith told RedWeb: "I am really enjoying my football here. I feel the club is ambitious and going in the right direction and I want to be a part of that progression.

"We are doing well this season and I really want to help bring European football back to Pittodrie."
