More Future Stars Stick With Dons

DONS kids Michael Paton, Scott Ross and Nicky Clark are the latest future stars to commit their futures to Pittodrie.

The three talented youngsters have all signed contract extensions at the club, with Paton penning a two-year deal and Ross and Clark staying until at least June 2010.

Striker Paton, who turns 20 next month, made his Dons first team debut this season when he came on as a substitute in the 3-0 SPL win over Inverness Caley Thistle in December.

Dons legend and Director of Football Willie Miller said: "Both Scott and Nicky are ones for the future and we'll be looking for both to be challenging for top team places over the next eighteen months.

"Michael meanwhile has been a regular on the bench in recent weeks and is now at the stage where he is pushing for a starting berth."

This latest news, in addition to Jonathan Crawford and Peter Pawlett signing extended deals this week, is more proof of the positive effect of the changes brought into AFC's youth set-up by Willie Miller.

Miller instigated the creation of the Aberdeen Football Club Youth Academy in June 2006, bringing in Head of Youth Development Lenny Taylor and clearing out the dead wood at the club.
