Real Scottish People's League Week 9

St Mirren were this week's big movers in the Real SPL, climbing from sixth to second thanks to a comprehensive 3-0 home win over Kilmarnock. The Ayrshire club slides to fifth place in a congested top-half of the division which is seeing teams swapping places on a weekly basis.

One team which hasn't moved since day one of the season is the one sitting at the summit, Motherwell, and they extended their lead at the top of the RSPL to five points with a late win over Aberdeen. The Dons remain in an unchanged bottom three who are becoming increasingly isolated from the rest of the teams. Alongside them in the 'relegation' zone are Inverness Caley Thistle and Hibs; the latter however showed some fighting spirit that will be required in the rest of the season by coming back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 with Dundee Utd at Easter Road.

In Sunday's game, St Johnstone continued their charge up the table by beating pre-season title favourites Hearts 2-0 at home. The Perth club also have two games in hand over most of the teams above them thanks to the RSPL's bizarre system of 'rest weeks', which could result in the Saints becoming Motherwell's main challengers as the games played column evens out over the coming weeks and months.
