Real Scottish People's League Week 10
This week's Real SPL fixtures were spread out over the course of four days.
On Wednesday, St Johnstone missed out on an opportunity to move into second place when they conceded their first away goals of the season at Easter Road; Hibs winning their first match of the campaign at their ground by three goals to two. The capital club moved up a place in the table with St Johnstone remaining in sixth place - until their second game of the week on Saturday.
Friday's experimental evening kick-off saw under-pressure Aberdeen see off free-falling Dunfermline 4-0 at Pittodrie, with the Dons' top scorer last season Scott Vernon bagging a hat-trick - but of more significance to Dons fans will have been the performance of Scotland Under-19 captain Fraser Fyvie, who marked his return from international duty with a well-taken goal. The Dons moved up to seventh place with Saturday's matches still to be played.
Saturday's games saw leaders Motherwell extend the gap at the top to seven points as they comfortably walloped Dundee Utd 3-1 at Tannadice.
Beneath the Lanarkshire club, however, it could barely be closer - following Caley Thistle and St Johnstone's wins, there are now only four points between the latter in second place with 12 points and the former who are at the foot with eight. And with the first round of fixtures in the Real SPL almost complete, it is clear to see that this brand-new league is shaping up for a hugely exciting full season.
