Red Brewster

ABERDEEN have pipped St Mirren and Kilmarnock to the signature of former Dundee United boss Craig Brewster.

40-year-old Brewster is thought to have agreed a short-term contract with the Dons to allow him to start playing for the team in the New Year.

Calderwood said last week that Brewser could provide cover for Dons striker Lee Miller, who, with his power and good ariel ability, is in the same mould as the former Dunfermline man.

Ironically it was Brewster who sanctioned the transfer of Miller to the Dons from Dundee United on transfer deadline day this year.

Dons chairman Stewart Milne shall make the funds available to cover the cost of Brewster's wages after seeing his team move clear in second position this weekend.

The signing of Brewster leaves a question mark over Dyron Daal's future at the club. The Dutchman, who has scored two goals for the Dons this season, is at the club on an amateur contract and may now be surplus to requirements.

CRAIG BREWSTER has a record of a goal every three games in the SPL since he signed for Jimmy Calderwood's Dunfermline in 2002. This is all the more remarkable considering that he was just under 36 years old when he signed for the Pars.
