ABERDEEN goalkeeper Jamie Langfield has penned a new three-year contract with the club.

'Clangers' has been in superb form in the UEFA Cup this season despite some shaky performances in the SPL, and losing his place in the first team at the start of the season after a boozy bust-up with Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood.

The 27-year-old former Dundee, Raith Rovers, Partick Thistle and Dunfermline stopper had been made available for transfer in the close season following an incident during a stag night in Spain.

A club spokesman said: "The club are delighted to announce that Jamie Langfield has put pen to paper this morning and signed a new 3 year deal with the club."

'Clangers' is the second player to sign a new deal this season, following Ricky Foster, but there are still four more Dons players whose contracts expire in the summer who are considering offers from the club.

Midfield dynamo Barry Nicholson, defender Zander Diamond, winger Chris Clark and club vice-captain Michael Hart have yet to agree terms with the club.

Nicholson said he had held talks with the club at the start of the week and hoped more discussions would follow now that the Uefa Cup game was out of the way.

He said: "I am happy here and want to stay."

There are rumours that Norwich may try to sign Diamond in the January transfer window, and that Plymouth Argyle may move for left midfielder Clark and full-back Hart.

But Clark has said that he is hopeful of remaining with his local club.

He said: "Of course I want to stay here, but it is the biggest decision of my career and everything has got to be right."

And Dons Legend and Director of Football Willie Miller had a warning for the out-of-contract players.

He said: "They have good contracts on the table and I hope they sign them. But if we have got to rebuild the team then I will support Jimmy in rebuilding the team.

"If they are sensible, I will do everything I can to keep them here.

"If they are not, they'll go somewhere else and we will go and get other players to produce the kind of football we had against Copenhagen."
