Shiels Alerts Dons To Possibility Of Move North

HIBERNIAN striker Dean Shiels has spoken of his need for first-team football, which opens the doors for a bid from Aberdeen in the transfer window.

The Northern Ireland international has scored six goals this season despite being largely restricted to appearances from the bench.

If the frustrated forward cannot push himself into new Hibs' manager John Collins' thoughts, he would have to seriously think about a move, especially with Aberdeen's interest out in the open.

Shiels told The Scotsman: "The only thing I know about Aberdeen is in the papers. The gaffer has not mentioned anything to me about it.

"If there is interest obviously I'd be stupid just to put deaf ears on it, but I love Hibs and I want to do well for the club."

As reported on Aberdeen-Mad in September (click here), Calderwood attempted to sign Hibs striker Dean Shiels on transfer deadline day last month.

At that time, Calderwood hinted that he may make another move for the 21-year-old in the January transfer window.

He said: "January is a long way off so we will have to see what his situation is then, but there will be other players in a similar position."

Shiels had an operation to remove his eye in February this year. He has been blind in his right eye since a domestic accident when he was eight years old.
