Everton FC's official website have announced that the Toffees will face Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Tuesday August the 8th.

It is thought therefore that the game will form the centrepiece to Russell Anderson's testimonial celebrations.

A Dons spokesman insisted that the final details of the match had yet to be confirmed, saying: "We are still in discussions, so cannot confirm anything at this stage."

However it seems with Everton's official announcement that the game will go ahead, but the Dons are waiting to release the details along with news of the mooted South Africa trip this week.

The match with Everton will be the showpiece of a series of events lined up to honour captain Anderson's ten years with the Dons club, thought to include a gala dinner and golf day.

Anderson was in Japan with the Scotland squad last week and played a pivotal role in the team that won the Kirin Cup against the host country and Bulgaria.

The Dons skipper played the full 90 minutes of both games as the Scots hammered Bulgaria 5-1 with a superb performance, and drew 0-0 with Japan on Saturday to win the competition.

Aberdeen vice-captain Scott Severin also played a total of over 90 minutes for the national team in Japan.
