Zander May Need Another Op

DONS star defender Zander Diamond may need a second nose operation - yet again delaying his return to first-team action.

The 24-year-old had to be taken to hospital after a clash in training last month left him nursing a severely damaged hooter.

But the injury has not yet healed so the unfortunate centre-back, who has missed all but 45 minutes of this season with a troublesome foot injury, will find out today if he needs further surgery.

Diamond's woes compound Aberdeen's defensive crisis, with Jerel Ifil and Maurice Ross set to miss the visit of third-placed Hibs through suspension and injury respectively.

Dons boss Mark McGhee said: “I have been talking to Zander and he is certainly very frustrated with the situation.

"He thought he would be back not only in training but playing in the team again by now.

"It’s not great for Zander or the team but we don’t know when he will be back.”
