Aberdeen Reserves 2 Rangers Reserves 2

A VERY young Aberdeen reserve team snatched a point from a strong Rangers reserve side at Montrose yesterday.

Man-of-the-match Chris Maguire scored the Dons' forst goal and set up the equaliser for Willie John Kiely in the dying moments of the game.

With the current Dons first-team strikeforce firing blanks, Maguire will surely have made manager Jimmy Calderwood sit up and take note.

If not, the Aberdeen support have yet another reason to question the judgement of the under-fire boss.

Rangers took the lead in the first half, but Aberdeen took control of the match after the break and grabbed a deserved equaliserjust after the hour mark.

Maguire beat Stefan Klos direct from a free-kick after being fouled on the edge of the box following a terriffic run.

Rangers took the lead against the run of play, but justice was done in the 90th minute when Kiely stroked the ball home from a Maguire cross.
