When FC Aberdeen hit four-nets recently against Danishmen of FK Kopenhagen, persons of Germany became alert once more. When the Eurodraw became the Scottish-Dons versus Bayern Munchen, these persons became alert twofold.

By ways of an early-time preview of this encounter, Aberdeen-Mad's German correspondent, Kaddie Autogripschaft, takes a look back at the pleasant circumstances of the FC Aberdeen many encounters with the mannschafts auf Deutschland comings.

1978/79 Cup of Cup Winners 2nd Round

Rangers and Celtic, the oppressive hair-tearing teams of Ferguson, was to be fallen. But lurking behind the wish was to demand in Europe. McNeill had left a place in the Cup of Cup Winners, falling Ferguson for the first time into the strange world the soccer of Continent Clubs.

Three goals through the Petrov brothers earned a narrow first leg victory for Marek Dimitrov in Bulgaria although the deficit was overthrown half second in an amusings at Pittodrie. The opponents of FC Aberdeen in Round 2 were nearer to home and immensely powered. Federal Republic of Germany had won the Worldcup in 1974 and has let Bayern Munchen three times claim the Eurochamp Masters Cup.

Fortuna Dusseldorf was, on paper, one of German less-lights. They had won no interior trophy since the war although it would caught the German Cup this season and next. They had lost the 1978 German Cups Finale - however to the Cup of Cup Winners through the same back door as Aberdeen. FC Koln, like Rangers, had reached the double.

The newest Euro of Fortuna had been excursions in 1973-74 and 1974-75. Both times reached it Round 3 of the UEFA Cup. The choice of its present players was striking Klaus Allofs that the triumphant goal would make of Western Germany against Scotland in Worldcup 86.

There was only a lonely horse at racing in Dusseldorf. At the quarter of an hour, the ball is hurled from the head of John McMaster, permitting Gunther the first goal. If that score FC Aberdeen retains, it would be allowed to survive ties, but that defense-line stands static claiming offside as a Gunther outbreak makes the double lead. Nine minutes of time the Zimmerman 25 metre flew-yard free kick into the net from the fingertip of the usual good-grip of Leighton.

Ferguson calls back that after the game went anxiously many of its players to nightclub of Dusseldorf. The team paid the price through losing at home to Midlothian Hearts on Saturday, and Ferguson swore never again to allow middle into the week late nights, and partying.

Three goal deficits are considered unturnable in Europe. FC Aberdeen never recovered yet of such a downwards edge. The crowd of persons at Pittodrie was smaller than that to see Marek Dimitrov in Round 1, which proposes known to supports that the game was ended. Fans that stayed away missed a night of insane action. Bobby Clark is for its first game of the season, and Ferguson judged the situation ripened for the explosive material however until now raw talent of Gordon Strachan.

Strachan was put forth as FC Aberdeen made siege to the German goalmouth. It regarded all over when half time remains scoreless, but brace goals placed in three minutes takes to a furious finale, with Fortuna backing as the ball rebounding defender and woodworkings to the ending of the referee-watch. Ferguson learned lesson in this losing tie, that teams cannot expect to prosper through conceding of three goals in every away.

Fortuna advanced to the Finale where they lost 3-4 after extension-times to Valencia.

The direct shot of John McMaster was also not Funk admitted. At the closingtimes, Cha Bum Kun wobbled the breadth bar of Clark.

For much of the home leg with Hamburg, FC Aberdeen appeared to be makings of the last eight. Franz Beckenbauer with 36 years oozed class, but Black - the comingman for the newtimes - swings upwards like a soaring-eagle to make it 1-0. Foolish beggars play Leighton and Kennedy outside of the box - one apieces now. At 2-1 Stein saves the fifteenmetres-kick of Strachan before Hewitt makes 3-1 active. Only three minutes are to be played when Rougvie crumples to become in a pile. Instead of making the overlines-kick so that Neale Cooper can enter, the Dons commence the game still and Hrubesch is in openspace to score his brace goal. Ferguson burst insane, knowing that the goal had turned the tie.

FC Aberdeen did lose this volume at Pittodrie, not in the Volksparkstadion. After snow had been cleaned of the field, Hamburg has served a lesson taught. FC Aberdeen pursued a lost cause once the heading of Hrubesch moved Hamburg ahead on road-goals. McGhee identified his first goal months-long. Hamburg went entirely to the finale where they were struck by IFK Gothenburg.

BAYERN: Muller, Dremmler, Horsmann, Grobe, Augenthaler, Kraus, Pflugler (Mathy), Breitner, Hoeness, Del Haye, Rummenigge

Attendance: 24,000 Referee: Monsieur Vautrot (France)

The name proclamations for the cup of the 1982-83 Cup of Cup Winners has Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid and Barcelona (the holderchamps) of Spain , Internazionale of Milan, Bayern Munchen, Paris St Germain, Austria Vienna. Persons that injuriously propose that the Cup of Cup Winners is most softly of the three Eurocomps is making to argue of an incorrect premise. Although many continental countries give lower priority, it does not follow that the winners will be any less notable on Europhases.

Through that, quarterfinal entered all heavy guns with which exception of Spurs, who of Bayern Munchen fell in Round 2. It was paired Bayern now FC Aberdeen. The drawing was made in December; the games were not until March being.

Respect of that Bayern side - including Breitner, Augenthaler, Hoeness and Rummenigge - has aligned again in the Olympicstadium game where Spurs had recently 1-4 crumbled.

Scottish clubs had not lingered long in Europe in newtimes, holds record against German sides poor. In the course of the years, FC Aberdeen had served losing to Borussia Moenchengladbach, Fortuna Dusseldorf, Eintracht Frankfurten and Hamburg. There was few reasons to suppose that Bayern its duck would conclude.

FC Aberdeen, with unexpected discipline in Munich played - unexpected to the Germans who thought FC Aberdeen would be backing its foot for the 90 minutes - and McGhee might even a 0-0 draw turned into a 1-0 victory. Even so it was probable the remarkableness result that had snared FC Aberdeen in Europe.

The skeptical friends were fast to refer that without the pillow of one away goal that the Scottish team still has to everything make. The German would go and were through with a 1-1 draw favorites.

What followed, was, to be the ecstasy night in the story of Pittodrie.

It was the manner of the victory that astonished. Bayern was good enough to snatch an away goal - two actually. The fingertip of Leighton became detached almost of the blazings of the Augenthaler shot, and the volley of Pflugler within the nearside wood after Neil Simpson had packed up a scramblings equaliser, should have extinguished the last hopes of FC Aberdeen.

With fifteen minutes, FC Aberdeen had to swear to double goals.

Strachan and McMaster make the crazy caper to open for the powerhead play of the redhair McLeish. 2 apiece becomes.

In the short-times Black also heading nearly to 3-2, but the stop well from Muller, before Hewitt comes with good slidings to place between the keeperlegs.

Pittodrie broke out. It made so again in the ending whistle blew, and its players arranged again by Ferguson to the pitch to acknowledge the insanity fans celebration.

The European Super Cup is no cup generally, but a wallboard. Nor is it of necessity super. It is used in concept to the Shield of English Charity, between league and cups winners, and the World Club Championship between the European and the Southern American Title-holdingers. The idea brings cash and honour to the winners, and the losers forgets immediately it. In overfilled schedules additional fixtures to press in are difficultly, and are forgotten sometimes completely. Matches overfilling is a special headache for Europchamp Masters because it leads to the Cups Winners demand playing and to the Southern American Masters - all in addition to defending of its Europe Crown.

Smaller clubs like FC Aberdeen find amusing effects of international success, and could not forgo more large fixture. FC Aberdeen has is had the additional stimulus of the first Scottish club to win the Supercup. It was arranged only in 1972 (too late for Celtic) when Rangers (Glasgow) were struck by Ajax.

The Dons' opponents were the old bad-friends. Brace years are coming since SV Hamburg made the Pittodrie special night. Beckenbauer and Hrubesch are leaving since.

Making a double nil-all in Germany - first Bayern now Hamburg also. McGhee makes the nearest shot to claiming road-goal.

The Pittodrie atmosphere could not compare to that for Bayern. Weather-sprinkle seemed to make players, like support, depressioned. Hamburg that is played in red, FC Aberdeen compelled to carry white-black.

The game was indifferently also until Peter Weir scurried bypassed defense and to the touchline, after halves, to create the Simpson goal. After that the followers found its voice and Scottish-Dons found its form. McGhee added a second and easily escaped the Germans with double-goals against.

Is it a questionable point: FC Aberdeen won the incorrect matching with Hamburg? Would they have exchanged a Half-precious Wallboard for running to the 1981-82 UEFA cup of quarterfinal?

Hamburg lost the World Club Championship in Tokyo, 1-2 to Gremio Porto Alegre of Brazil.

FC Aberdeen was held sterile to even nils through Hertha Berlin in the first leg its Uefa cup of first round volume at Pittodrie. Goalscoring chances were few and far in 100th Eurogame for the Scottish side.

However, with the scoreline spaced at zeroes at the half-way phase the Dons will be on that other hand if they visit Germany in two weeks.

In the 67th minute, the home side has the best chance of the game and it should have claimed the scoring break. Its brother Derek is slipped by Darren Young in with a refined through ball however the midfield player shoots just at Kiraly of 10 yards.

Referee: G Gilewski (Poland)

FC Aberdeen failed to profit from the indisziplinery of Hertha, and lost its chance of a first victory on German earth. The home side had been reduced on 10 men when Andreas Neuendorf midfield player was shown a red card by arbitrator Grzegorz Gilewski for a head-collision on McGuire during an explosive nil each first-half.

FC Aberdeen could not retain enough possession to take advantage against a side fighting in Bundesleague.

And, when Eric Deloumeaux, became dismissed onto the second half, the German took once again control.

It was a cross into the box through Mercelinho, that the FC Aberdeen defense caught that dozes, when an uncontested near post head-shot through Preetz from a network of 10 yards.

That is all.
