ABERDEEN

It's Strictly Come Dons-ing: take a step forward, then two back. Plainly, the ghost of Calderwood still haunts this team. After the positive passing football on display against Hearts it looked as though McGhee had started to make the breakthrough with our out-of-date squad. Against United it was back to the bad old days: one dimensional tactics, woeful contribution from the largely bypassed midfield and easy chances spurned by players with pretensions of becoming international class.

McGhee desperately needs fresh blood; the kids are alright and Ross looks like a solid addition but too many aren’t getting the basics right. The addition of a midfielder who can pass and a striker who can score are essential - and preferably without two left feet.
