The Red Avenger's Wednesday Rant - 28 January 2009

Third Degree Burns

A wise man once said something about the best laid plans o' mice, men and Aberdeen fans gaun awry, and Saturday was a perfect example.

In recent years, we've become used to sending Woolworths FC homewards with their heads between their legs - on Saturday they came to Pittodrie for a draw and sadly we gave it to them.

What other conclusion can one draw from a 4-5-1 Wattenaccio formation with Kenny Misser up front? For an allegedly title-chasing side they were truly woeful. Apparently some of their fans think they deserve better, personally I think it's karma paying them back for 136 years of unsurpassed arrogance and delusion.

Truth be told (and petty jibes aside), they were marginally the better side but as anyone who witnessed Saturday's game will tell you that's akin to an alcoholic being marginally better than a junkie.

God knows (cos Jimmy disnae) what happened to us on Saturday, the previous weekend we had a team full of heroes smiting the Hooped Hordes, this week we got a collective o' cowering timerous beasties.

Still a points a point fer aw that, and 4 out of 6 against that pair is nae that bad. A result at Falkirk, take care of the Fifers and then onto the crucial double-header with Hearts and United in what's turning into a nae bad race for the Europa League.

Long may it continue, just as long as the best team called Aberdeen wins of course.
