ABERDEEN

I'm still trying to figure out what annoyed me most on Saturday. Was it the autumnal weather on opening day? Was it the sustained full frontal seagull assault on Section Y?

It could well have been being patronised by a Caley fan post-match in the Pittodrie Bar, and, given what we'd both witnessed earlier, knowing I had no credible rebuttal as he lectured me on the misunderstood footballing genius that is Ross Tokeley.

Whilst I don't begrudge Caley fans gloating at their first ever victory over us, what stuck in the craw was how we managed to make such a mediocre side look average, and, even more alarmingly, just how easy it was for Caley to shut us down.

Our passing was atrocious, our movement akin to an arthritic asthmatic pit pony and, with Jamie Smith having a day to forget, no creativity what so ever. The only upside is that it's impossible for us to be this bad in the remaining 37 games.

Anyway history shows we've never won before the third game in Calderwood's reign and we always recover to finish in the Top Six.

So no need to panic….yet.
