THIS wasn't supposed to happen. Three competitive games, three comprehensive defeats, out of Europe before the season starts ... But we've a club legend at the helm!
Despite a lot of the fans never warming to our teak-hued former gaffer, it was still a shock when he was let go on the final day of last season. This was a bold move from the board, who, at the end of the day, are mostly concerned with the finances – which were doing OK thanks to JC.
But having made said bold move, the board now must back the new boss with even just a minor increase in the transfer budget before August 31st so he can assemble his squad.
It would show faith in the manager, and it would show the fans that the start to the season is unacceptable.
