ABERDEEN

Yet another fairly muted Aberdeen versus Rangers encounter. Not only has the so-called 'hatred' between the fans not led to anything untoward for years, it seems the players have followed suit. Bar Nacho Novo's disgraceful red-card lunge at Stuart Duff last season, there has been little trouble on the pitch either.

And now the teams have gone as far as to actually stop playing football altogether. Both sides were terrified to attack - futile long balls being the theme of both teams' play. If the mediocrity we saw on Saturday was between two sides who'll end up in the SPL's top three, Celtic will be getting the title with their Christmas presents.

As for the offside goal, it's one that could've been given either way with some justification due to Boyd being offside and moving towards the goal - and it's about time these went our way against them.

However, it is hugely annoying that Rangers are now using a tight offside call to balance out the Arabs Ibrox farce at the end of last season as well as over 100 years of cheating and probably the Manchester riot too.

Anyway, on to Somerset Park for perhaps a simple win or perhaps yet another cup humiliation at the hands of a lower-league team...with Calderwood at the good traaler's helm who knows?
