History of the Aberdeen v Hibernian fixture

Aberdeen prepare to entertain Hibernian at Pittodrie Stadium on Wednesday evening, looking to continue an impressive record. The Dons are clearly on top, winning 51.59% of the games played between the two.

The most recent encounter between these two sides at Pittodrie Stadium was less than a year ago, in October 2006, as Scott Severin snatched a dramatic late winner as the Dons finished 2-1 victors in a Scottish Premier match.

The last time the teams met in a Scottish Cup tie saw exactly the same scoring pattern as the last Pittodrie encounter, the Dons coming back from 1-0 down to take the game 2-1 in the semi-final of seven years ago.

The game took place at Hampden Stadium on April 9th 2000 with Arild Stavrum cancelling out Russell Latapy's opener, and Dons cult hero Andy Dow smashing in the winner after some superb build-up play involving Rachid Belabed, Eoin Jess, Paul Bernard, Cato Guntveit and Stavrum.

Recent respective form guides

Aberdeen have an excellent home record, winning five and losing just one of the last six games. A total of 13 goals have been scored by the Dons in those games, with 6 conceded.

Hibernian have a poor recent record on the road, picking up two good wins, but losing four, from the last six. The games have constituted an excellent return of 14 goals for the The Hibees, but worryingly they have simultaneously leaked 11 goals.
