Aberdeen appeal Robson's red

Robson was sent off in the 72nd minute of Aberdeen's 1-0 victory over his former club after catching Charlie Telfer with his arm as he steadied himself to clear the ball down the line.

The Scotland midfielder was shown a straight red card for violent conduct by referee Bobby Madden on the advice of his assistant, Andrew McWilliam, who was five yards away.

The 36-year-old faces a two-match suspension if his appeal at Hampden Park fails on Thursday.

Robson said: "I think it's a bit harsh. It was an accident.

“There's not any malice, I'm looking the other way. It's frustrating that it did happen.

"It was down at the bottom of my arm that I have caught him but there was nothing intentional in there."

It certainly looked like a red card could have been the correct outcome, but with Celtic proving this week that anything can be appealed then perhaps the Dons are right to refer the red to the league's bungling beaks.
