Aberdeen Mad Made AFC's Nominated Fanzine

Last updated : 16 June 2010 By Stand Free Ed

ABERDEEN-MAD has been named Aberdeen FC's 'Nominated Fanzine’ for season 2010/11 - ending the need to be coy about the upcoming season's fixtures.

The award is made to a single football fanzine by its affiliated football club in order to obtain a licence from Football DataCo Ltd to publish fixture lists like traditional media outlets can.

And in previous seasons this has been awarded to long-standing Dons forum DonsTalk - meaning Aberdeen-Mad messageboard users have had their threads containing fixture lists removed in previous years, because otherwise Aberdeen-Mad would have fallen foul of copyright law.

With four applicants vying for one sole nomination this summer, we're delighted to have been selected by the club, which was done on the strength of popularity with the fans, recorded in terms of referrals.

This means we are clear to publish the Dons' fixture list when it is revealed by the SPL tomorrow at 9am, and users are free to discuss them on the Stand Free forum.

And Dons fans need not worry - being nominated fanzine does not mean we will be toeing the Pittodrie party line like some media sources. We will still be fighting for the supporters' cause, writing opinionated articles and encouraging debate of everything Dons-related on our forums.

Because of the way the 'Nominated Fanzine' has been awarded, all at Aberdeen-Mad must thank everyone who has visited the website in the past year. We couldn't do it without you, so thanks for your support!
