Scotland Under-21s are set to play the UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifier against France in Aberdeen.

The match, on Friday September 1, is one of only two being played in the competition due to a change of format.

An SFA spokesman told RedWeb: "This is a huge match for the Under 21s and is a game they will have to win if they are to progress in the competition, so it will have a real cup-tie atmosphere. We know that a large and passionate crowd will support the team at Pittodrie, which makes it the ideal venue for this match."

Pittodrie missed out on the chance to host Scotland's opening game in the qualifying for Euro 2008 against the Faroe Islands last month, but the SFA admitted they were keen to award Aberdeen with another fixture.
