Baas, How Low Can You Go

Dutch defender and techno DJ name-alike Sven Baas has joined Aberdeen on Tuesday afternoon. The 25-year-old defender, who has been over training with the first team for a few weeks now, has signed on as an amateur on a short-term contract.

The former Volendam and Haarlem player, who can play at right back or in central defence, is drafted in just as Jimmy Calderwood got news that Michael Hart, Keving McNaughton and Chris Clark are unlikely to be fit for Saturday's match against the crisis-hit huns.

Baas will be hoping to make a better impression than Calderwood's previous panic short-termers Thor Kristjansson and Mikko and Markus Paatalinen, who were murder. It is hoped that Sven will get a run-out in the reserve game against rangers at Broadwood Stadium, Cumbernauld. The match has a 2pm kick-off - very handy for midweek fans.
