The Dons were back in action last night against Brechin City in their first pre-season game of the summer.

Mitch Megginson, Patrick Bengondo and Darren Mackie were the scorers as Aberdeen comfortable saw off their east coast rivals.

Dons boss Craig Brown was pleased with the display.

Brown told official website RedWeb: "I said I would speak to all the trialists, or visitors as I call them, tomorrow during training and tell them what we feel about them.

"Contracts are difficult to get because there are so few available wages. The budget is tight. If there is a guy out there though that we really wanted the board will make sure we get him. There are a couple of the players who merit serious consideration but I don't want to name them yet as I have not spoken to them individually.

"We will take Chris Oldfield with us to Holland as we need cover for that position. So he will be invited across as the number two goalkeeper.

"I am not saying yet as to whether he will be the only one who travels with us. None of them were out of their depth and they all did ok.

"Great credit to the fans who came out in big numbers despite the fact we advertised it would not be a full strength side.

"I was very pleased with Darren Mackie tonight. He was a winning captain! He has put in an unbelievable amount of work to get himself fit again. He wanted to play tonight and he deserved his goal."
