Brown On Recruitment Drive

But the veteran boss insists he will only make quality signings, rather than recruit new personnel for the sake of it.

Brown swooped to sign French defender Youl Mawene earlier this month and is keen to add more new faces if they fit the bill.

He said: "We're not going to sign players for the sake of it. I've watched other clubs make a lot of signings and I'm not envious of any of them.

"But I wouldn't like the supporters to think we are not on the case as we are all working diligently on improving the team.

"I have a list of players - every agent that phones and every recommendation we get, I write it down, and it will take ages to get through them all.

"Some of them we know and others we have to find out about."

One player on Brown's radar is former West Ham striker Daniel Uchechi.

He said: "We had a request from an agent about Danny and he told me what a wonderful player he was.

"We will have a look at him, and he seems to be a reasonably good player."

However, the Dons boss expects to be priced out of a move for Norwich defender Steven Smith, who had a loan spell at Pittodrie last season.

He told the club's official website: "I think it'll be quite difficult to get anyone whose - the rumour is - wages double.

"So quite clearly it will be harder to move him now than it was a year ago. I think the money might make it quite difficult for us."
