Craig Brown To Protect Ryan Fraser From Burnout

Aberdeen wing star Ryan Fraser has been outstanding for the Dons so far this term, despite being targeted by opposition hatchet men.

Managers of every other SPL team have disgracefully employed violent tactics in an attempt to injure Fraser whilst avoiding red cards.

And SPL defenders have picked up an incredible 16 yellow cards and one red trying to take out the youngster.

Gaffer Craig Brown has continually demanded more protection from referees for the Scotland Under-19 prodigy, but he is also aware that he cannot start Fraser every game at such a young age.

Fraser was dropped from the starting XI for Tuesday's cup match with St Mirren, and Brown may do the same tomorrow as the Dons face Ross County in Dingwall for the first time.

Brown said: One of the hardest parts of the job is managing young players to ensure they always have the chance to perform to the best of their potential.

"The easy thing to do would be just throw them in and let them burn themselves out but I have always done my best to avoid that.

"[Fraser] has been a key player but there was always going to be a stage where we needed to take him out.

"It’s unfair to expect an 18-year-old to keep handling that sort of responsibility.

"He’s been through so much already we now have to consider giving Ryan a break more often."
