Manager Derek McInnes told told Sky Sports News HQ: "Nobody will really remember the records with this team, we want the team to be remembered for winning trophies, that's your best gauge of success. It's been a good start but we feel there is more to come.

"We managed to beat Celtic a couple of times the season before last but last season we didn't and that doesn't sit well with us. We have decent records against every other team in the league but Celtic were the one team we had problems getting results against.

"The performances against them were by and large not too bad but we haven't managed to get winning performances against then. For me Saturday is all about the result more than the performance. We are looking for improvement."

Dons midfielder Barry Robson told Sky Sports News HQ: "Last year was disappointing but the previous season did we not beat them three times?

"I thought in a couple of the games last season that we were unfortunate, taking nothing away from Celtic who are a good side. They were close games and we always make sure we take it to the wire.

"You can't dwell on the past so it's a case of looking forward, it's a new season. We feel fit, we feel strong and we feel confident in our team and club. And we're looking forward to the challenge."

Gothenburg Great Neale Cooper offered his tips on winning the match. He told Sky Sports News HQ: "They've just got to have a right go at them at home. I think on Saturday they could have a new back 4 playing. To work on a back 4 you have to do it for a while before you go into games and that doesn't seem to be the case this week.

"I would be stressing to them that this is a new back four, which straight away gives an opportunity to go and test them to see what they are made of.

"I think Aberdeen will cause them problems at set plays. I've looked at Aberdeen's set plays. They've got a big threat in Ash Taylor. Every time the ball goes in that box he looks like he could score because of the size of him. Plus he's very good in the air."

Former Dons striker Lee Miller believes the Dons must take something from the game - he told BBC Sportsound (via InsideFutbol): "They have to show a good account of themselves, they can't get beat.

"I think Derek McInnes will be adamant to the players in the dressing room that they have a massive chance this season. If they want to be serious title challengers they can't get beat."
