ABERDEEN will meet Panathinaikos, Lokomotiv Moscow, Athletico Madrid and FC Copenhagen in Group B of the UEFA Cup following the draw today in Nyon, Switzerland today.

The Dons 100th European game* is set to be against Panathinaikos in the Greek capital Athens.

Jimmy Calderwood and his men then invite Scotland star Gary O'Connor's former club Locomotiv Moscow to Pittodrie.

A trip to Spain to face Athletico Madrid follows, with Aberdeen pitting their wits against stars José Antonio Reyes, Diego Forlán and Luis Garcia at the Vicente Calderón stadium.

Finally, after a blank fixture card on Matchday 4, Aberdeen are due to play Danish league toppers FC Copenhagen, which would see a tremendous Red Army support if qualification is a possibility.

Dons legend and Director of Football Willie Miller said: "It is a tough group for us. It could have been easier but on the other hand it could have been much harder.

"Jimmy will be writing up a dossier on each of our opponents.

"If we play the way we played against Dnipro then anything is possible.

"It is great for everyone at the club, and we are looking forward to great nights at Pittodrie again."

The fixture dates are:

Thurs Oct 25
Matchday 1
Panathinaikos v Aberdeen

Thurs Nov 8
Matchday 2

Thurs Nov 29
Matchday 3

Wed/Thu Dec 5/6

Aberdeen were placed in the lowest group of seeds for the draw.

The winners, runners-up and third-placed sides from each group progress to the last 32 where they are joined by the eight third-placed teams from the UEFA Champions League group stage.

At this point, the traditional two-game format is used with the exception of the final in Manchester.
