Gentner, 22, has previously has spells at Eintracht Frankfurt and TUS Koblenz and has joined up with the Dons squad at their pre-season training camp near Arnhem in Holland.
The defender, who can also play on the left-side of midfield, is the younger brother of German international Christian Gentner who plays for VfB Stuttgart.
