Dunfermline Athletic have confirmed they are in discussions with Aberdeen concerning the sale of midfielder Barry Nicholson. Nicholson has been a long-term target for Dons boss Jimmy Calderwood, with The Pars rejecting an offer during the January transfer window. An initial offer submitted at the end of last week was turned down, but an improved offer was then put in and appears it may be accepted, with Nicholson expected to sign within 48 hours.

Pars manager Jim Leishman acknowledged the receipt of Aberdeen's latest offer, with talks continuing between the SPL clubs this week. "Aberdeen have come back to us with another offer and they want to know the score," said Leishman. "The two clubs are speaking so we'll see what happens." Reports at the weekend suggested that the Dons are willing to offer Scott Morrison in part exchange, and it is believed that Morrison has had prelimenary talks with the Pars, but the transfer-listed left-footer is also interesting newly promoted Falkirk, Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Motherwell.
