Dons Swoop For Touzani

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood has used his near-mythical Dutch connections to snatch defender Karim Touzani from FC Twente Enschede.

The 25-year-old made only two substitute appearances for his club last season despite making 19 appearances and scoring two goals in season 04/05 for Theo Snelders' former club Twente.

This led the former Holland under-21 international to consider his options and it seems Calderwood has jumped at the chance to offer him a 1-year contract at Pittodrie.

Out-of-contract Touzani told his local newspaper: "I'm very happy with Aberdeen, this is a good move for me. I haven't played for one-and-a-half years, at Aberdeen I hope to be able to play a lot of football."

Touzani can also play in midfield and may be a direct replacement for Kevin McNaughton.

Calderwood last headed to Holland earlier this year to grab Ferne Snoyl on a loan deal from Feyenoord.

Snoyl had an electrifying start to his time at Pittodrie with two influential displays in victories over Rangers and Hearts although it seems he will not be signing a contract with the Dons.
