The SPL side had taken the lead after 10 minutes when Josh Magennis scored a screamer from inches inside the half-way line. Gladbach equalised nine minutes later through Lukas Rupp then early in the second half the hosts took control after Matthew Leckie's cool finish.
Mike Hanke then scored twice in two minutes, with one from the penalty spot to wrap up the game.
Leckie netted his brace, and Gladbach's fifth with 15 minutes to play before the Dons scored a consolation goal through Ryan Jack.
